The Energy Information and Manpower Development(EIMD) unit was created to address the problem of research dissemination
in NCERD, which had been identified as a way of creating awareness while developing
manpower in the critical areas of renewable energy research. Charged with the responsibility
of identifying skills gaps in the centre and mounting workshops to train Nigerians on the various
aspects of renewable energy technologies (SOlar PV, Solar Thermal, Biomass, Wind) as well as energy
efficiency and management, the Unit is aptly managed by research staff from various backgrounds to
enable achievement of set objectives.
Through the active involvement of the unit, the Centre successfully organised a win-batch training
course on AutoCAD (for NCERD staff) and an intermediate course on Solar PV systems design and
installation for Engineers and technologists in 2012, 2019, 2020 and 2021.
Other training programmes including Inverter Fabrication etc have also been carried out. Research
staff in the Unit continues to carry out collaborative research research work as well as in their
base units of interest.
